The history of Boxing is still being unraveled by historians. There are two major theories of how the sport evolved from its early European origins, to what it is today.

The first theory is that boxing in its early history was part of a hybrid or mixed martial arts type of sport. It was not recognized as a full-fledged sport by any governing body and there were other sports involved in the mix of martial arts and other combat sport. Although it did compete with other athletic events such as wrestling, it was basically an event where fighters would compete with each other and they were usually more skilled than their opponents.

The second theory is that boxing evolved out of a European game called freestyle, where the rules were quite simple and there were very few separate rules. This type of fighting sport that evolved from freestyle is generally referred to as free-style boxing.

Boxing differs from other traditional sports because it is unique in that it does not have the classic rules of the game. There are no fouls, penalties, or time limits. There are several different types of boxing which vary in rules and styles.

Professional bouts are usually fought for money but they are not illegal. For example, a boxer can be fined, suspended, or even lose his license for serious offenses.

In most professional bouts there are a number of fighters from which the winners are decided. Judges or referees will decide who the winner is.

Most professional bouts are held for a purse. The number of rounds each fighter has, the size of the purse, and the percentage each fighter gets depend on the rules of the fight.

Many people enjoy watching professional bouts and most boxers fight for the love of the sport and to win the title. Since most of the fights are televised many people from all over the world can watch and even bet on them.

There are several categories in which a bout can fall into. The most popular ones are the middleweight, light-heavyweight, and super-middleweight divisions. This is not to say there are only three divisions, there could be an additional four weight classes.

Many of the big boxing matches are regulated by the major sanctioning bodies, the World Boxing Association (WBA), and the International Boxing Federation (IBF). They often regulate boxing matches between the same people, regardless of the division of the fight.

Because of the way the sport of boxing has evolved, there is a lot monetary value associated with it. It is estimated that boxing is a $640 million industry.
